Overview

The Forge is Dungeon Lootr's answer to drop-based gear RNG: a Blacksmith in the lobby who upgrades, alters, and rebuilds gear using Gold and dungeon materials. This guide covers the upgrade ladder, the two stone currencies, and the Exotic material routes - the full toolkit behind the weapon-first strategy from our weapon guide.

What the Forge Actually Does

Three functions live at the Blacksmith. Forge crafts new gear from materials, upgrade raises an existing piece's level with Gold and mats, and alter/reforge rerolls stat or perk lines with Reforge Stones. The process is deliberately RNG-tinged, which is why stone budgets matter more than stone stockpiles.

Because crafting and upgrading convert farm time into guaranteed power, the Forge is the F2P answer to bad drop luck. Check the Blacksmith's stock every lobby visit - rotating recipes and stock refreshes regularly hide upgrades worth more than another dungeon run.

💡 Forge Stones and Reforge Stones are separate currencies - bundles of both come free from codes like FORGESKIP on the codes page.

Exotic Materials: Drop Rates and Routes

Class quests and high-end crafts run on three Exotic materials. The table lists every source with its real drop chance so you can route farms efficiently.

One Underworld Gate Nightmare session can roll all three sources at once, which is why UGN farming anchors most material plans.

💡 Challenge Mode's 30% Exotic Essence from any boss makes it the fastest material farm once your build clears wave 30 reliably.

The Upgrade Ladder (Do It In This Order)

Gold and materials are scarce early, so order matters more than volume. The five-step ladder below is the standard progression raiders follow from fresh account to endgame gear.

Each step unlocks the next: weapon first because clear speed is the whole economy, then the survival floor that protects deep-floor runs.

1

Forge or upgrade the weapon

Your first stones and Gold go into the weapon slot - damage speed funds every later step through faster clears.

2

Raise one survival piece

Chest or armor next, just enough to survive your farming tier comfortably - not to max, just to parity.

3

Reforge the weapon's perks

With base stats solid, spend Reforge Stones on perk lines that match your build blueprint.

4

Craft missing Exotic pieces

Route UGN and Challenge Mode materials into the class-quest crafts listed on our unlock page.

5

Cycle with each difficulty push

Repeat the ladder one tier higher each time; old weapons become material fodder instead of sunk costs.

⚠️ Reforging is RNG - set a per-session stone budget so a cold streak never strips your crafting stockpile.

Stone Budgeting 101

Two stone types, two disciplines. Spending them by rule instead of mood is the difference between a Forge funnel and a Forge bonfire.

Both currencies refill constantly through codes and bundles - the codes page alone covers most early budgets.

Forge Stones = Guarantees

They craft and upgrade; spend freely on keepers, hold them on transition gear.

Reforge Stones = Gambling

Perk rerolls with random outcomes; budget them per session on best-in-slot only.

Bundle Codes First

FORGESKIP, LOOTRISBACK, and 20KPLAYERS pay stones before you ever farm.

Tier Check Before Reforge

Only reforge gear within one tier of your farming difficulty - lower is throwing stones away.

💡 A good rule: never reforge a weapon you would not still wear in three difficulty tiers.

Craft vs Farm: The Decision Rules

Every gear gap has two solutions - the Forge or the dungeon. These decision rules settle the question in seconds.

They assume your clear rate sits above 80% at the current tier; if not, fixing that always precedes any gear decision.

  • Farm first when starting a new difficulty tier - boss chests may simply drop the upgrade.
  • Craft first when you already hold strong base gear and only need perk or stat fixes.
  • Always craft class-quest items - drops cannot replace materials like Devil Heart or Exotic pieces.
  • Farm Boss Rush for fragments, Forge for everything else - the modes split cleanly.
  • When Gold-poor, farm; when Gold-rich, Forge - each session's income decides the answer.
💡 Post-update rechecks matter: patch notes can shift material uses, so verify recipes after the September 5 update before big crafts.
FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Where is the Forge in Dungeon Lootr?

At the Blacksmith's shop in the main lobby. Materials collected in dungeons are spent there, and its stock refreshes regularly, so check it every visit.

What are Forge Stones used for?

Forge Stones craft new gear and fuel upgrades - the guaranteed-power side of the Blacksmith. Reforge Stones are the separate currency for rerolling perk and stat lines.

How do I get Exotic Shattered Armor?

Igris, the secret boss of Underworld Gate Nightmare and Endless modes, drops it at 8%. Expect a farming session, and route Exotic Ore in the same runs.

Is forging better than farming for gear?

Farm when entering a new difficulty tier since boss chests can drop upgrades directly; Forge when you hold strong bases that only need upgrades or perk fixes.

Do I need the Forge to unlock classes?

Indirectly, yes - quest classes need materials like Devil Heart and Exotic Shattered Armor, and the Forge converts your duplicate stockpile into gear that makes those farms possible.

How many Reforge Stones should I save?

Keep at least one bundle's worth (three or more) for your best-in-slot weapon at all times, and spend overflow only on gear within one tier of your farming difficulty.

Can I lose materials at the Forge?

Spending is permanent, so follow the upgrade ladder - weapon first, one survival piece, then perks. Never pour stones into gear below your farming tier.
